Almadas is an atelier located in Porto were painting courses are held by two generations of artists. Inês, the future manager of the space, wanted to freshen up their image and to create a range of cohesive promotional materials. We were inspired by the old signing of the traditional shops surrounding the atelier, which display condensed characters and strong curved shapes. We gave them a contemporary look through a monospaced font, which allows a perfect grid. The symbol was compounded by the letter ‘A’ and the line that breaks the syllabus. By rotating them, it suggests a paint brush, and establishes a connection with the courses. The new brand is clean, remarkable and versatile, and opens up new ways of communicating with future students and clients.
