Almadas is an atelier located in Porto where painting courses are held by two generations of artists. Inês, the future manager of the space, wanted to freshen up their image and create and brand new identity and a range of cohesive promotional materials.
We got inspired by the old signage of the traditional shops surrounding the atelier, which display condensed characters and strong curved shapes, and gave them a contemporary look through a monospaced typography and a bright colour touch. The symbol was compounded by the letter ‘A’ and the line that breaks the syllabus; by rotating them, it suggests a paint brush, and establishes a connection with the courses. The new identity resulted in a clean and versatile look, opening up new ways of communicating with future students and clients.
