Conversas de Palco

Internship Report

Editorial

Conversas de Palco describes a journey of a costume designer through the background of Olga Roriz dance company on training to PET’S show. For her master, Maria João chose to do an internship in one of the best Portuguese dance companies, exploring the connection between the costumes making and the choreographic development.

This journey ended up with a final report that Maria wanted to become actualised as a remarkable book, instead of a boring academic document. From this briefing, and as an image lover, I started to collect the photos and drawings she had, both from the essays and the show, as the starting point to design a minimal object with a modern look and a dramatic taste from the show on the cover.

Believing in details as a beautiful way to make objects special, we asked our dear Catarina, from Alfaiate do Livro, to do her magic giving a final touch to this book with a special undercover Japanese bookbinding.

Are you finishing the long journey of a PhD or a Master? Dreaming of turning all your library hours into a beautiful object? I would love to hear your story!

"
Joana is a designer with a sensitive eye and an attentive posture to customer requests. I have already entrusted her several works like my Master dissertation, my business cards and my wedding invitations and the entire graphic identity of the event. In all of them Joana always presented a fantastic capacity for work, a very criterious rigor and, above all, the passion and pleasure for the beautiful things she produces. I believe in Black Unicorns!
